Iraq lose to Lebanon in West Asian basketball

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi national team lost its opening to Lebanon 106-72 in the 2013 West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) championship being held in Tehran.
The Lebanese team managed to rule the four quarters and close them by 23-12 , 54-27 , 74-40 and 106-72.
Iraq will face the Iranian team on Friday, before wrapping up the first round next Saturday against Jordan.
The Iranian team has demolished Jordan earlier 93-55.
The 2013 WABA Championship is the qualifying tournament for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.
The two best teams, excluding Iran, will qualify for 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.

The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship will be held from August 1 to 11 in Manila, Philippines.

The competition serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
