BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Nine people were killed and 46 were wounded in the series of attacks that hit Iraqi provinces on Thursday, the interior ministry said.
"Armed groups blew up several car bombs and explosive charges targeting civilians in Baghdad and other provinces," said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
It was the deadliest day in Iraq since March 20, when shootings and bombings claimed by Al-Qaeda front group the Islamic State of Iraq killed 50 people and wounded 255 nationwide.
A series of explosions hit a number of Iraqi provinces this morning, including Baghdad, Diala, Kirkuk and Ramadi, leaving scores of casualties.
At least 36 people were killed and 168 were wounded in similar attacks that hit eight provinces last month, including Baghdad, Karbala and Kirkuk.
