3/6/2011 10:30 PM

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Five civilians were wounded in a hand-grenade blast that targeted the police in western Mosul city on Sunday, according to a security source in Ninewa.

“A hand-grenade attack targeted the police in the area of al-Farouq, western Mosul, leaving five civilians wounded,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“There were no casualties reported among the police,” he said, adding the person who threw the grenade managed to escape.

Mosul, the capital city of the violence-ridden multi-ethnic province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
