Suhail says quit Maliki’s bloc

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Safiya al-Suhail, a prominent member of parliament from Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law), announced she has officially quit Iraqi prime minister’s bloc, according to her media office on Thursday.

“Suhail said in a message to the State of Law bloc chief that she quit because of non-democratic ways in political and coalition activities,” she was quoted in a statement by her media office as received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“I have suffered blackballing, ignoring and marginalizing when it comes to contributing to key political decision-making for the bloc.
There was meager coordination and consultation as well as autocracy practiced by a limited number of persons,” Suhail added.

In another message she sent to the Iraqi parliament and its members, Suhail hoped “all necessary measures are taken in parliament so that I may be acting as an independent liberal democratic lawmaker”.
