BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Al-Iraqiya Bloc MP Liqa' al-Wardi attributed the security deterioration to running the defense and interior ministries on an acting basis.
She pointed out, in a statement by her media office, that the security breaches, particularly yesterday's attacks on Karbala pilgrims, are signs of security failure.
"Premier Nouri al-Maliki could be a general commander for acting ministers, but unable to handle both ministries in addition to his post," Wardi added.
She demanded that he appoint the ministers as soon as possible for national and political considerations, confirming that the defence ministry post is the share of Iraqiya bloc.
Premier Maliki appointed Minister of Culture Sadoun Dulaimi as acting defense minister, which was objected to by al-Iraqiya Bloc.
Al-Iraqiya Bloc submitted nine candidates for the post, but all were rejected by Premier Maliki.
