BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Some 42 members of the Kurdistan Workers'Party (PKK) have been killed in operations in the eastern province of Hakkari’sSemdinli district, on borders with Iraq, according to Turkey’s privatebroadcaster Kanal D.
The Turkish Armed Forces started the operations in the areafollowing a tip on a possible attack the PKK was planning to launch on a Semdinlipolice station.
Nearly 90 PKK elements were approaching the station when TurkishArmed Forces intervened, killing 42 of the fighters.
