6 Qaeda leaders killed in Anbar province

 ANBAR/ Aswat al-Iraq: Police sources said here today that six Qaeda leaders were killed and two cops wounded in clashes in Rutba area, west of the province.

 

The source told Aswat al-Iraq that military and police forces, supported by four helicopters, conducted a security operation in Rutba area.

 

The source added that the clashes are still going on with four armed terrorist cells in the same area.

 

Rutba lies 460 km west of Ramadi, center of the province, which lies 110 km west of the capital, Baghdad.

 

Anbar province witnessed a series of explosions, including a suicidal attack that led to tens of casualties, including MP Ifan al-Issawi.

 

Since 22 December 2012, Anbar province witnessed massive demonstrations and sit-in, in addition to Ninewa, Salahal-Din, Diala, Kirkuk and Baghdad demanding the release of innocent detainees and prisoners, while others called for toppling Maliki's government.
