BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi and his accompanying delegation to Gaza Strip returned to Baghdad after one-day trip.

 

 

In a statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, Nujaifi held a number of meetings.

 

 

A press conference was held with Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament Ahmed Bahr.

 

 

Bahr called for Iraqi people assistance to the Palestinian people, as well as the possibility of issuing a general pardon for the Palestinian prisoners in Iraq and good treatment of Palestinians living in Iraqi territories.

 

 

Nujaifi stressed that importance of re-gaining full Palestinian rights.

 

 

Both sides agreed to form a joint parliamentary friendship committee.

 

 

An invitation was extended to the Palestinian side to visit Iraq, as the statement added.

 

 

The Iraqi delegation met head of the Palestinian government Ismael Haniyah, as well as visiting a hospital where the victims of the Israeli aggression were hospitalized.
