Nujaifi "an obstacle to achieve demonstrators' demands", MP
2/22/2013 11:38 AM

BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: MP Alia Nsaif charged Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi of being "irresponsible to achieve the demands of the demonstrators through not adopting the laws they called for endorsement".

In a press statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, she pointed out that "the demands of the demonstrators have two sides, the first within the competence of the executive authority and the second within the legislative".

She added that Nujaifi has become an obstacle in hindering the laws within the legislative powers, "though he is capable of endorsing laws without political compromise".

The laws referred to are the Questioning and Justice Law, Article 4 terrorism and the General Amnesty Law.

Nsaif called the parliament to "expedite endorsing the demands of the demonstrators, instead of ignoring them".
