WASSIT/ Aswat al-Iraq: Fourteen al-Qaeda members were arrested north of the province, police sources said here today.

 

General Hussein Abdul Hadi told Aswat al-Iraq that the arrest took place in Suwaira area, 135 north of Kut city.

 

The detainees were implicated in armed operations against civilians and armed units in the province.

 

The arrest took place upon intelligence information, he added.

 

Kut, center of the province, lies 180 km south east of the capital, Baghdad.
