BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqiya bloc and Wifaq Movement leader Iyad Alawi called today for early elections to get rid of the crises that stormed the country.
Alawi is the second Iraqi leader in Iraqiya bloc who called for early elections, following head of Hiwar Front leader Saleh al-Mutlaq.
Both opinions are similar to that of Premier Nouri al-Maliki, head of State of Law bloc.
In a televised speech to the Iraqi people, Alawi pointed out that the present government failed in different political and economic spheres.
"The only solution to the problems facing the country, which resulted in the massive demonstrations, is to have an early election, after the resignation of the present government and the formation of a transitional one", he elaborated.
Alawi pointed out "if that is not achieved, so the National Alliance, the bigger bloc in Parliament, which proposed Maliki as premier, should suggest another personality for the post, in a manner that guarantees implementing previous agreements, including Arbil's, which formed the present government".
Deputy Premier Saleh al-Mutlaq called for the resignation of the Iraqi government and conducting early election, provided that a transitional government should prepare coming election.
In an Arabia TV station interview, he called that the present government should not nominate itself in the coming elections.
Anbar, Ninewa and Salahal-Din are witnessing massive demonstrations for the last ten days, calling for the release innocent prisoners and adoption of general amnesty law, in addition to other demands, including stopping the neglect practiced against Sunni sect.
