BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The General Authority for Free Zones expressed its readiness to support an Iranian suggestion to establish a free zone between the two countries.
“A delegation from the Iranian embassy led by the economic councilor paid a visit to the Iraqi authority and discussed prospects of joint cooperation and activating trade exchange between the two countries,” a statement from the finance ministry quoted the general director of the authority Saleh al-Qeisi as saying.
“The delegation explained the possibility of establishing a joint free trade zone to support service, trade and industrial activities between the two countries,” it added.
Iraq had signed several memos of understanding with neighboring countries to establish free trade zones on borders.
