7/16/2011 7:42 PM

ARBIL / Aswat al-Iraq: A senior Kurdish border forces personnel said today that Iranian military vehicles penetrated into Iraqi territory in the Kurdistan region at a distance of three kilometers inside the region.

"The Iranian forces concentrated their presence in areas of Qandeel mountain, Arbil province," the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

The Iranian forces consisted of some tanks and artilleries and penetrated 2-3 km inside Iraq, the source added.

The Turkish border areas extending into Qandeel mountain are currently living in a tense situation.

"The Iranian forces notified residents in these areas that they had three days to evacuate their homes," the source added.

"What the intensions of the Iranian forces are remain unclear, but the situation is tense," the source concluded.

Kurdish border areas with Iran have come under Iranian fire under the pretext of chasing the Iranian opposition PJAK guerilla forces.
