Iran to set up metro, electricity station in Karbala

KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Iran will work in implementing a number of projects in Iraq, mainly in Karbala, including a metro and an electricity station, Iranian transport minister said on Thursday.

 

 
"A delegation from Iranian transport ministry is visiting Iraq to hold several meetings with Iraqi officials," Ali Nakissat, the transport minister, said at a joint pressconference with Karbala Governor Amal al-Hurr, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

 

 
"We have discussed ways of Iran's contribution in the development of roads' infrastructure in Karbala, which witness thousands of Iranian pilgrims every year."

 

 
"Among the projects; the establishment of 100,000 residential units and a 40-Megawatt energy station, as well as a metro and an airport," he noted.
