WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Nine wanted men were arrested on Wednesday in northern Wassit, the Wassit police department said.

 

“Policemen waged a security operation in the wee small hours of the morning in al-Suweira district, northern Wassit, where they arrested nine al-Qaeda wanted men,” General Hussein Abdulhadi, chief of the police, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

 

“The operation was launched in light of intelligence information,” he added.

 

Kut, the capital of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
