Iraq denies executing Saudis, Minister of Justice

BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Ministry of Justice denied executing Saudis, but stated the death of one prisoner by heart attack.

The Saudis are reported close to the ruling family, while the deceased prisoner was convicted to death, according to a statement by Minister of Justice Hassan al-Shammari to London-based al-Hayat daily.

He added that most of the Qaeda Organization related prisoners do not identify their families.

Regarding the exchange of prisoners with Saudi Arabia, he clarified that it will include those convicted with capital punishment.

Last March, Baghdad and Riyadh signed an agreement to exchange prisoners.

Latest media reports said that Saudi Arabia executed 7 Iraqis, which matter was denounced by Iraqi foreign ministry.
