KIRKUK/ Aswat al-Iraq: Security sources said here today that a number of police commanders were detained due to latest explosions that hit the province.

The source told Aswat al-Iraq that a high ranking special committee from the ministry of interior arrived here to investigate the security situation in the province.

The committee decided to detain a number of police commanders, the sources added.

The recent explosions led to 7 killings and wounding 51 more, as official reports said.

Kirkuk, center of the province, lies 280 km north east of the capital, Baghdad, which is one of the disputed areas between Baghdad and Arbil.
