KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: One child was killed in a sticky bomb explosion in southwestern Kirkuk late Sunday, an official said on Monday.

"A bomb, attached to the vehicle of Aamer Saeed, a member of the al-Multaqa district council, southwestern Kirkuk, went off while attending a funeral in a village, killing a 10-year-old child," Head of the district, Hassan Abd al-Juburi, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

"The official was not hurt, but the explosion caused severe material damage to the vehicle," the source added.

Kirkuk lies 280 km northeast of Baghdad.
