BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Baghdad on Thursday for talks with Iraqi leaders, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, a well-informed source said.
"The top UN official's visit aims at discussing ways to end disputes and pending files with Kuwait," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Upon his arrival, Ban Ki-moon met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zebari.
When in Kuwait Ban said on Wednesday that he is "committed to normalization and to ensuring that Iraq fulfills all of its outstanding international obligations regarding Kuwait as the Security Council has mandated."
