DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A police captain was arrested in east of Baaquba with explosives in his possession, the security committee of the Diala council said on Friday.

 

 

"The committee had provided intelligence information to the Diala Police Department on a captain of the Muqdadiya electricity protection force working with armed groups," Muthanna al-Tamimi, the committee's chief told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

 

 

"The forces watched the suspect and caught him red handed in al-Muqdadiya with explosives and bombs in his possession," he added, without causing further details.

 

Al-Muqdadiya is 45 km east of Baaquba, the capital of Diala, which lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
