Iraq to host 22nd Gulf Football Tournament

 BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Gulf federations decided that Iraq will organize Khaliji 22 in Basra in 2015.

 

Iraqi delegation gave a full review for the preparations made.

 

The Gulf inspection team submitted proposals to the Iraqi side before coming visits in March and May next to evaluate the efforts made in this regard.

 

Basra Sports City has 18 main gates; each one represents an Iraqi province.

 

The basic designs were made by an American company which was verified by a British one.

 

The city comprised a lake representing Iraqi map surrounding the Olympic stadium, in addition to gardens, parks, hospital, other facilities, including a power station.

 

The aim of build the sports city was to host 21st Gulf tournaments this year, but it was decided to move it to Bahrain under the pretext that Iraq does not have the real infrastructure to host it.
