Gunmen shoot down senior Kirkuk notable

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Unidentified gunmen shot dead the chief of the Kirkuk notables council secretary general on Thursday, according to an informed security official.
“Gunmen in a vehicle opened drive-by fire on Sheikh Abdulrahman Ali Aziz al-Dalwi near his house in Area 90, central Kirkuk, killing him instantly,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The assailants later managed to escape to an unknown place,” he added.
The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
