BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Free Zones announced on Saturdayit signed a contract with a local company to establish a special zone topractice commercial activities.

“The IFZ signed an investment contract with Eaamar constructioncompany to set up a free zone to allow commercial activities in Awerej region,southern Baghdad,” IFZ director Saleh Saleh al-Qeissi said in a statementreceived by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The contract is the first of its kind in Iraq,” he added, notingthat it allows commercial activities in accordance with the Free Zones lawnumber 3 of 1998.
