BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Baghdad's Operations Command spokesman announced today that the security forces for yesterday demonstrations' protection did not allow any weapons into the square, as reported by some mass media, pointing out the quarrel that erupted yesterday utilized the sticks that were carrying the slogans as weapons.

 

"The role of the security forces was to provide protection.
What happened is that the demonstrators quarreled using flag masts.
The intervention of anti-riot forces ended the quarrels," Atta added to Aswat al-Iraq.

 

Eye witnesses in Tahreer square told Aswat al-Iraq yesterday that hand and sticks fights took place among a number of the demonstrators.
