7/30/2011 10:41 AM

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A citizen of northern Iraq’s oil-rich city of Kirkuk has been abducted by unknown gunmen for unknown reasons, Kirkuk’s Police Director reported on Saturday.

“A group of unknown gunmen have abducted a Kurdish citizen from his shop in southern Kirkuk’s Industrial district on Saturday,” Lt-Brigadier, Sarhad Qader told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, giving no further details.

Noteworthy is that Kirkuk had witnessed a series of abductions recently that included three against prominent doctors and members of their families, creating anxiety among Kirkuk’s doctors and their families in the city, 280 km to the northeast of Baghdad.
