BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: News on the intention of Nouri al-Maliki to dissolve Iraqi parliament within 48 hours was denied here today by a responsible official.
The source told semi-official Iraqiya TV that this news is "baseless".
Article 64 of the Iraqi constitution stipulated two ways to dissolve the parliament, the first through parliamentarian procedures when the parliament itself wants to dissolve by a request of two-thirds of its members and the second is executive when the premier asks the president of the republic to dissolve the parliament.
Premier Maliki put four alternatives to solve the present crisis, including dissolving the parliament.
