Saudi FM receives VP Hashemi
4/4/2012 11:08 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi arrived in Saudi Arabia and met with its Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Wednesday.

Earlier, the Qatari news agency said Hashemi left Doha Wednesday morning after a several days’ “official visit” to the Gulf state.
He was seen off at the Doha International Airport by Qatari Minister of State Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassem Al Thani.

Hashemi had said in statements that he flew aboard a Qatari plane to Doha after obtaining the Iraqi civil aviation organization’s approval.

He praised Qatar’s position regarding the request by the Baghdad government to hand Hashemi over after he arrived in Doha, terming the arrest warrant issued from Baghdad against him as “politicized”.

“I came from Iraq and traveled legally in broad daylight,” he said.
