KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Seven wanted men and two suspected gunmen were arrested on Wednesday in south of Kirkuk, a police source said.

"A joint force of Kirkuk districts Police Department, backed by army troops, waged a crackdown operation at dawn in Daqouq district's villages, south of Kirkuk, where they arrested seven wanted men and two suspects," the source, who asked for anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

"The operation was launched in light of intelligence information," he added, noting that the seven detainees are members of the al-Qaeda's Islamic State of Iraq armed group.
