 Kurdish relations with Iran not on Turkish account, official

ARBIL/ Aswat al-Iraq: Kurdish region government stressed its need for "good relations based on equality, understanding and mutual interests with neighboring countries and the world's".

In an interview with Saudi Al-Sharq al-Awsat daily, head of foreign relations department Falah Mustapha, said that "developing relations with Iran will not on the account of the Turkish ties, but taking the Iraqi interests as the first priority in signing any foreign agreement".

He criticized Baghdad for making "obstacles" to deter the progress of the Kurdish region.

Mustapha denied that Teheran "intervened in the Iraqi political crisis or pressurized President Masoud Barzani to better relations with Baghdad".

"We want to implement the constitution, to be real partners and execute Arbil agreement", he confirmed.
