DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Three wanted men, according to Iraq’s Article-4 – Terrorism -, including the personal driver of Iraq’s former President Saddam Hussein, have been detained in a security operations, implemented by a joint Army and police force north of Baaquba, early in on Sunday.
“A joint Army and Police force have carried out an operation, detaining 3 wanted men, according to Article-4 – Terrorism, including the personal driver of Iraq’s former President, Saddam Hussein, in a security operation in al-Tijary village in Miqdadia township, 45 km to the northeast of Baaquba, early in the day,” the police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Baaquba, the center of Diala Province, is 57 km to the northeast of Baghdad, had witnessed on Saturday the killing and injury of several policemen and civilians, including a police officer, who was injured, in an attack on his motorcade in central Baaquba.
Baaquba city had also witnessed an attack on a money-exchange shop by a group of armed men, who clashed with security forces, killing and wounding several policemen and civilians, followed by the imposition of a general curfew on the city since Saturday afternoon.
