Anbar events assassination attempt, Mutlaq

BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Deputy Premier for Services Affairs Saleh al-Mutlaq's office announced today that "he was subject to an assassination attempt during his attendance the public meeting of Anbar protestors", that led to wounding a number of his bodyguards.

The statement added that the convoy was hit by live shots.

It added that Mutlaq was cordially received at the beginning, but some elements tried to implement the assassination move amid the masses.

In the statement, Mutlaq confirmed "supporting the legitimated demands guaranteed by peaceful demonstrations and sit-ins, as well as achieving justice under the banner of civil government that believes in the rights of the individual and guarantees free and decent life, irrespective of his religion, sect, nationality or race".
