Amnesty Law not covering terrorism verdicts, MP
1/7/2013 6:36 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Ahrar bloc MP Iqbal al-Ghurabi stated today that the general amnesty law will not cover convicted prisoners for terrorism charges or who killed Iraqi people, as well as who were covered by the previous amnesty law.

In a statement, she added that the Sadrist Trend does not support releasing those who were stained with Iraqi blood or convicted for terrorism charges".

She stressed that there are other political circles which try to put obstacles before adopting the amnesty law through agitating Iraqi public or withdrawing from the parliamentary sessions discussing this matter.

"The aim of the law is to release innocent people or convicted due to the testimony of the secret informer, as well as those who were imprisoned for political reasons, particularly in mid-Euphrates and southern parts of Iraq, mostly of the Sadrist Trend", she elaborated.
