BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Chairman of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Shiite Cleric Ammar al-Hakim, has criticized the slow progress in settling security dossiers in the country, charging officials and political forces with being behind the issue.
A Council statement, as received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency on Thursday, quoted Hakim, as saying in a speech he delivered in the weekly Cultural Meeting, calling for the “settlement of the issue of the assignment of security cabinet ministers.”
“The delay of the said issue has become unjustified with the presence of efficient candidates for those posts, who had been nominated by some political blocs,” Hakim said.
Hakim charged officials and political forces with “major responsibility to deal with the security and service dossiers, calling on their settlement in the nearest possible time, in order to ease out the burdens of citizens on all political, security and service levels.”
