ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: Policemen arrested on Saturday a senior leader of al-Qaeda in Ramadi along with two of his aides during a security raid, a police source said.
“Acting on intelligence information, policemen arrested the military leader of al-Qaeda in Ramadi and two of his aides during a security operation in separate regions in the city,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The man is one of the most wanted persons for his involvement in murders and acts of sabotage in Anbar,” he added.
“He and his two aides are responsible for several vehicles born improvised explosive device (VBIED) and recruiting suicide bombers.”
Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.
