BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Oil ministry spokesman Asim Jihad announced that agreement was reached with Jordan to build an oil pipeline to Aqaba port to increase Iraqi oil exports and enhancing bilateral relations.
Jihad told Aswat al-Iraq that the Iraqi ministerial delegation, headed by Premier Nouri al-Maliki, reached the agreement to extend the pipeline with one-million ton capacity.
The pipeline is to increase Iraqi oil exports as well as meeting Jordanian needs of crude oil and liquid gas.
A joint committee was formed to put the mechanisms to implement this agreement, Jihad added.
Maliki met, yesterday, Jordanian Monarch Abdullah II, where bilateral relations were discussed, in addition to the Syrian question.
The visit resulted in an overall agreement to enhance economic, oil and energy relations, as well as trade, agricultural and transport spheres.
Last November, Iraq granted Jordan free 100.000 barrels of crude oil to assist the Jordanian people.
