KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Iranian Vice President for Environmental Affairs, Mohammadi Zadah, signed agreements to set up green zones in Karbala, a local media official said on Friday.
"The vice president visisted Karbala today and toured a number of rural and desert areas as well as a number of projects in the city," Salem al-Zubaidi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"The Iranian official held a meeting with the local government and signed and an agreement to set up green zones to face the desertification and dust storms in the city," he added.
"The agreement involves also training Iraqi cadres on ways to face the desertification," he noted.
Karbala lies 108 km southwest of Baghdad.
