11/30/2011 10:56 AM

NAJAF / Aswat al-Iraq: Dozens of supporters of the Shiite Sadrist Trend have demonstrated in the holy city of Najaf in protest to the visit of US Vice-President, Joe Biden, according to a source in the demonstration.

"About 200 supporters of the Sadrist Trend took to the street in Central Najaf's Sadrists Square, to protest against the visit of US Vice-President Joe Biden to Iraq," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Demonstrators raised anti-American slogans, shouting: "No, No for America," the source added.

The Sadrist Trend, led by the young Shiite Clergyman, Muqtada al-Sadr, had called for demonstrations all over Iraq today, in protest to the visit by US Vice-President, Joe Biden, to Iraq, considering the visit as an "interference in Iraq's internal affairs."

Najaf is 160 km to the south of Baghdad.
