BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Iran disclosed today it is readiness to sign a contract to supply Iraq with 25-30 million tons of gas in 2013, Erna news agency reported.
Director of Iranian Gas Company Jawad Auchi was quoted saying this readiness, with expectations to sign the contract in the near future.
Governor of Iranian Gailan Gharb Erdashir Rustumi announced, earlier, that preparations are underway to build a gas pipeline that connects Iran with Syria and Iraq.
Iranian Gas Company announced that Iran may export Iranian gas to Iraq by summer of 2013.
Iraqi Electricity Ministry announced last June that a contract was signed to supply Iraq with 25 million cubic meters of Iranian natural gas on a daily basis for five years period.
The expected gas will supply two power stations in mid of Baghdad.
The inclination to import Iranian gas stirred great criticisms, in the light of the presence of such wealth inside the country, which experts called to expedite investments in this regard.
