Right of Syrian people in multiple democratic regime stressed, Maliki
BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Premier Nouri al-Maliki stressed the right of the Syrian people to establish it is multiple democratic regime, rejecting unilateral control of power.
In his speech before Non-Aligned Conference late last night he reiterated the right of the Syrian people to establish it is democratic regime that will respect human rights accords and resorts to law and constitution.
He rejected "the security challenge to deal with the ambitions of the people, who deserve all forms of support in a manner that will enhance national unity and protect it their sovereignty".
Maliki refused resorting to violence as a means to achieve legitimate demands, which "will abuse the goals of the uprising and denied it is civilizational and civil framework".
He rejected changing the struggle between the regime and the opposition to armed conflict that will increase the agony of the Syrian people.
"Iraqi stand declared in the Arab Summit did not change, but our vision of the Syrian question is to halt supplying arms for both sides and press the government and opposition to initiate a dialogue", he added.
Iraq chairs this year Arab League supported both Kofi Anan and Al-Akhdhar al-Ibrahimi moves to solve the Syrian question and warned against attempt to make this mission a failure.
On the other hand, Iraq proposed to form a unilateral committee from Syrian neighboring countries to discuss the papers submitted on this question.
Maliki wished the Non-Aligned Movement to be a polar between the conflicting polars, but called to change it is visions to meet the changing world conditions and the ambitions of it is people.
