ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: An Iraqi policeman has been killed and three others injured in an armed attack by unknown gunmen on a police checkpoint south of Falluja city of west Iraq’s Anbar Province on Saturday, a security source reported.

“A group of unknown gunmen have attacked a police checkpoint on Saturday morning at Amiriyat al-Falluja township in Anbar Province, killing 3 policemen and wounding 3 others, along with causing material damage to the checkpoint,” the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He said that preliminary investigations have shown that the gunmen have used middle-size and light weapons, adding that an Army and Police force began searching for the gunmen, who flew to an unknown destination after the attack.

The city of Falluja, the largest city in Anbar Province, is 45 km to the west of Baghdad.
