BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq: At least 15 persons were killed and 45 others were wounded in two car bombs explosions in southeastern Hilla city, a security source said on Friday.
"A car bomb went off in al-Shoumli region, southeastern Hilla, early Friday, followed by another bobby-trapped car, killing 15 and injuring 45," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"All casualties are civilians, who were carried to nearby hospitals for treatment," he added.
Violence has dropped in Iraq since the worst sectarian fighting in 2006-2007, but armed groups carry out near-daily attacks on security forces and civilians in an attempt to undermine Nouri al-Maliki's government.
