Embassies financing terrorist groups in Iraq - Interior Undersecretary
2/19/2012 5:59 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Some Arab embassies are playing the role of mediator to finance terrorist groups in Iraq by checks sent from abroad, the Iraqi Interior Undersecretary Adnan al-Asadi announced today.

He did not name the embassies involved in such actions.

"These embassies work as a financial intermediatory , but their responsible officials deny such activities and their intelligence organs keep their eyes closed to such movements," the Interior Ministry's website quoted Asadi, in his interview with Iraqiya satellite, saying.

Iraqi security organs gathered "dangerous information on the level of intervention of such embassies or representations, but current security considerations prevent exposing them," the site added.

These statements by Asadi constitute a warning to some countries of "Iraqi ability to observe such actions which are contrary to diplomatic procedures".
