Diala police dismantle 90 terrorist networks in 2012

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A total of 90 terrorists networks have been dismantled and 1500 wanted men have been arrested during security operations launched by Diala police in 2012, the Diala police department said on Wednesday.
“Ninety terrorist cells, most of them belong to al-Qaeda, have been dismantled throughout the province,” Colonel Ghaleb Attiya, the official spokesperson of the Diala police, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The forces arrested also 1500 wanted men in accordance with Article VI Terrorism Law, including leaders of what is called the Islamic State of Iraq armed group,” he added, pointing out that the forces killed 12 al-Qaeda leaders and elements during encounters flared with them.
Baaquba, the capital of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
