KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Security forces arrested 8 persons on criminal and terrorism charges, and seized weapons and explosive materials.

 

 

Following massive raids in the south of the city, police sources told Aswat al-Iraq that 7 motorcycles were also seized and a number of weapons and ammunition.

 

 

The military search and raids were carried out based on intelligence information, the source reported.

 

 

Kirkuk's Provincial Council called on the security forces for "more vigilance" to counter continued attacks in the province.

 

 

Kirkuk, the center of the province, lies 280 km northeast of the capital Baghdad. 

 

It is one of the disputed areas in the country and witnesses armed operations against security forces and civilians alike.
