BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq – Iraqi Intelligence information will be used to dismantle cells, using silencer-guns in assassination operations, the Spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Command said on Wednesday.

“The Baghdad Operations Command has revised its security plans and shall depend on the intelligence information to break through and dismantle the cells, using silencer-guns to assassinate civilians and security forces members,”  Qassem Atta told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Atta said that his Command had registered several assassination operations in Baghdad over the past few days, though their numbers have decreased recently, adding that the security forces “possessed information about those cells.”

“Al-Qaeda organization stands behind those operations, as some of its members who were arrested after carrying out assassination attacks, using silencer-guns, have confessed using such guns in their attempts in limited areas of Baghdad,” Atta said.
